Of course! We are licensed through NAPPS (National Associated of Professional Pet Sitters) and are insured through Small Business Insurers of the Carolinas. Ask about what our insurance covers in your meet & greet!

How long will it take to be contacted?

Congrats on filling out your New Pack Member form! Pack Leaders pair new clients with the best sitter and then contact you to schedule a meet & greet. Response time may vary, but ideally within two hours.

I don't see my pet listed on your services list

The service names are to indicate package size, not breed restrictions. We care for all animals! Think of “The Chihuahua” as our small package, and “The Great Dane” as our large package, and so on.

What is our most popular service?

Good question! The majority of our clients request “The Pomeranian,” which is three 30 minute drop-in visits throughout the day (breakfast, lunch, and dinner). Typically, when “The Pomeranian” doesn’t quite cut it, our clients go for “The Basset Hound,” which includes a pet sitter sleeping in your home overnight and returning for a 30 minute midday visit.

What is the cancellation policy?

From Section 1 of the Client Contract:

  • Owner must give Bad to the Bone minimum 48 hours notice if cancelling to receive full refund, 24 hours minimum to receive 50% refund.
  • Owner must give Bad to the Bone minimum 12 hours notice if planning to shorten trip in order to receive refund for days removed. Owner must give 12 hours notice if planning to lengthen trip in order to adjust bill and sitters schedule

I heard you do traveling pet sitting?

Doug, the owner, has not only a love for animals, but also for seeing the world. He has combined his passions to offer traveling pet sitting. He has taken care of a farm in Bend, Oregon for a month and has done cat sitting in Denver, Colorado, and is always looking for new opportunities. Arrangements and specifics for traveling gigs are based on an individual basis, contact us to find out more!

What if my requested sitter is not available?

When filling out the New Pack Member form, you were asked to choose a preferred back-up walker/sitter. If you did not indicate a preference, someone will be assigned to you based on availability and proximity.

I'm not sure what my pet needs

Every pet and family is unique, which is why all of our services are completely customizable! Our sitters and walkers list the services they offer along with rates on their profiles. Don’t see what you are looking for? Contact your preferred sitter and they may quote you a price or refer you to another sitter! Please note that while Bad to the Bone offers Overnight Stays, Drop-In Visits, Daily Dog Walking, Organized Play Groups, Bathing and Nail Clipping, Pet Transportation, Photo Shoots, and Traveling Pet Care, each pet care provider may choose which services they are willing to offer.

The pet sitter I contacted quoted me a different price than what is listed

The prices listed on our website and brochures are base rates. Bad to the Bone gives our pet sitters and dog walkers the ability to fluctuate their own prices. 

Do you take deposits for larger pet sitting jobs?

Yes, 25% of the total must be paid when you make the request for your spot to guaranteed on the schedule. The remaining total must be paid before the beginning of the stay.

Where do you go for Park Play Day?

The exact location, time of pick-up and drop-off, and size of the play group is based off which dogs are attending and their needs. We typically go to Ed Austin Regional Park, though you can catch us at John Gorrie Dog Park, Confederate Park, and Tillie K Fowler Regional Park as well. We also do one-on-one field trips to any suitable pet friendly place!
